Position Overview


Ardent Health Services is seeking experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurses for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This is a general acute care Med/Surg position caring for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical diagnoses. The ideal candidate will have strong Med/Surg or Med/Tele experience, comfort managing higher-acuity patients, and experience with telemetry, post-procedure care, and complex medical conditions.
Important Note: Although the unit name references Neuro, this is NOT a Neuro unit. The Neuro unit relocated, but the unit name has not yet been updated. This is a general Medical Surgical acute care unit.

Unit Details

  • Unit Type: Medical Surgical / Med-Tele
  • Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
  • Beds: 24
  • Daily Census: Approximately 24 patients
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6 (Days/Nights/Weekends)
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling
  • Floating: Required
    • May float to other Med/Surg or Med/Tele units
    • Will not float outside of their specialty/acuity level
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
    • Approximately 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • Call Requirement: None

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (appropriate state requirements)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience
  • BLS required and must be active at time of submission
  • Epic experience required

  • General acute care Med/Surg patients

  • Short length-of-stay patient populations
  • Clinical decision unit experience

Cardiac & Telemetry

  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Dysrhythmia management
  • Post-MI care
  • Post-angiogram care
  • Remote telemetry monitoring
  • Rapid Response/Code Team experience

IV Therapy & Procedures

  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Central line blood draws
  • PICC line management
  • Port access/management
  • Blood product administration

Respiratory & Critical Care Support

  • Oxygen administration
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
  • Chest tube management
  • ABG interpretation

Additional Skills

  • Wound care/wound vac
  • Feeding tube management
  • Heparin drips
  • PCA management
  • Isolation precautions/PPE
  • Surgical drain management
  • Pre/post hemodialysis care
  • Renal failure patients
  • Oncology monitoring (chemotherapy experience preferred)
  • Ortho trauma experience preferred

Schedule & Contract Details

  • Shift: Nights, 4x12-hour shifts
  • Hours: Option for 36 or 48 hours/week
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Block Scheduling: Not available
  • Orientation: 20 hours

  • Comfortable with 1:6 ratios and floating within Med/Surg specialty
  • Strong Epic documentation skills

  • Previous travel experience preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Available for night shift and every other weekend
